Welcome to Cedars & Larches Care Home
The Cedars and Larches Care home is a 60 bedded care facility conveniently located within
walking distance from Ilkeston town centre and is well established in the local community. The care home is based over 2 separate and secure buildings ‘The Cedars’ and ‘The Larches’ and both have a distinct atmosphere and character something we pride ourselves on. We cater for both funded nursing placements and residential placements and accept local authority funded individuals.
Interesting and Challenging Activities With an emphasis on meaningful activities, our in house activity department complete weekly meetings to discuss what our residents would like to do- we typically have weekly projects and an over-arching monthly theme that everyone can contribute to. Be it a weeklong 60’s festival, an art show, fashion show or good old karaoke, we have
something to cater for all tastes which include individual one to one session’s specifically designed for those who cannot or simply do not wish to join in. Our activity team follow the principles of ‘the mind, body and soul’ so each activity contributes to an important part of everyday life, with resident wellbeing being the ultimate focus.

Kris Webster- Home Manager
My philosophy to care centres on trusting relationships and building them with all people who are involved in the home, which includes the residents, family members, staff, local authority and the regulator CQC. We have strong bonds with the local community including with schools, churches and even local supermarkets, our residents often visit or they come and visit us here which is enjoyed by all involved. Care homes themselves are a community that are rich in diversity which is something that I particularly enjoy.
Shenay Hunt- Deputy Manager
local community and especially with those who support the service such as the advanced nurse practitioners and district nurses. Shenay’s philosophy is to constantly improve, and supports the home manager in this goal. Shenay is accompanied by her plus one, a miniature dachshund called Norman who is a celebrity at the home, he has been the homes therapy dog since he was 8 weeks old, has his own care plan and is a fixture of daily life here. Since Norman has arrived we now have regular days where therapy sessions with dogs that our relatives bring on an agreed date- something our residents and visitors all enjoy.
